Plain terms
What we do, and what we do not claim
Chiropractic care is hands-on care of the spine and joints. This page says what that means for a child, an expecting parent and an adult.
What we do
Talk with you and your child before anything starts
Check posture, movement and joints, suited to the age
Use light, specific contact and describe it first
Explain the risks and your choices
Send you to your pediatrician, OB, midwife or physician when that is the right next step
Give you a written estimate if you pay yourself
What we do not claim
That chiropractic care replaces your pediatrician, OB or midwife
That care changes how a child eats, sleeps or grows
That care changes how a pregnancy or a birth goes
A number of visits or a result, because results vary
That any technique, including the Webster technique, does more than we describe
The care team comes first
Keep your child's pediatrician, and your own OB, midwife or physician, in the picture. With your written permission we can send them a summary of what we did, and we are glad to read what they send us.
We take x-rays only when they are medically necessary, and we explain why before we ask.
Questions about any of this?
Ask the front desk, or ask your doctor at the visit.
- A sudden severe headache or neck pain, dizziness, trouble speaking or seeing, new weakness or numbness, numbness in the groin or saddle area (between the legs and buttocks), or new bladder or bowel trouble needs emergency care now. Call 911 or go to an emergency room.
