Care by life stage
Chiropractic care for parents and caregivers
A visit of your own, on the same schedule as your child's.
Lifting car seats, carrying toddlers and bending over cribs ask a lot of an adult body. Dr. Sameh Rizk and Dr. Shimabukuro see adults, explain what they find, and tell you when a visit is not what you need.

What a visit includes
From hello to a plan
- 01
Step 1: A talk about your week
Your doctor asks how you sit, lift and sleep, and what you would like to know.
- 02
Step 2: An exam of posture and movement
Sitting, standing, bending and lifting, checked while you are dressed.
- 03
Step 3: Care you agree to
Hands-on care of the spine and joints, explained first. Your doctor explains the rare serious risks before any neck adjustment.
- 04
Step 4: Ideas for home
Ways to lift, carry and sit through the day, and a few movements to try.
Good to know
Before you book
How long, and how often
A first visit takes 45 to 60 minutes and later visits are shorter. Your doctor sets a plan after the exam and reviews it with you at each visit.
What we do not claim
That care replaces your own physician's care
That it fixes a problem for good
A number of visits or a result, because results vary
When to see a physician first
Call 911 or your physician first for a sudden severe headache or neck pain, chest pain, new weakness or numbness, or loss of bladder or bowel control.
How it is paid
Your plan decides what it pays, and coverage for adult visits differs from plan to plan. Our front desk checks your benefits before the first visit and calls you. If you pay yourself, we give you a written estimate in advance.

Questions
Questions about this care
Can I book at the same time as my child?
We try to. Ask the front desk, and we will look for back-to-back times with one doctor or two.
I am pregnant. Which page is mine?
Pregnancy care has its own page, with positions and tools made for pregnancy.
What should I wear?
Clothes you can move in. You stay dressed for the exam, and your doctor tells you before asking you to change anything.
Book your own visit
Call the front desk or send a message. We reply during office hours.
- A sudden severe headache or neck pain, dizziness, trouble speaking or seeing, new weakness or numbness, numbness in the groin or saddle area (between the legs and buttocks), or new bladder or bowel trouble needs emergency care now. Call 911 or go to an emergency room.
