Parent guide

A parent guide to Restore

One page that answers what parents ask us first: what to bring, who stays, what the doctor does and what happens after.

You know your child. A visit works when you understand it, so we put everything here before you book. Nothing on this page needs a form, and you never need to write down your child's health history to ask us a question.

Three promises

  • A parent or guardian stays for every child's visit

  • The doctor explains before touching, and stops when asked

  • We tell you when to see your pediatrician first

Visit in order

Before, during and after

The same three steps for every child.

  1. 01

    Step 1: Before you come

Book a time that fits the school day. Our front desk checks your plan, if you use one, and calls you with what they find.

    • A photo ID and your insurance card, if you have one

    • Comfortable clothes for your child, who stays dressed

    • A book or a favorite toy for the wait

  2. 02

    Step 2: At the visit

You talk with the doctor first. Your child gets time to see the room, then the doctor watches your child move, checks posture and joints, and explains what was found.

    • A parent stays in the room

    • The doctor explains before touching

    • Your child can say stop at any time

  3. 03

    Step 3: After the visit

The doctor tells you what to watch for and when to call. Some children feel a little sore afterward, as adults can.

    • Your doctor sets a plan after the exam

    • Ask for a visit note for school

    • Call us with questions, any office day

Good to know

Four things parents ask next

  • Who is the doctor?

Dr. Kam Shimabukuro sees babies, toddlers and expecting parents. Dr. Sameh Rizk sees school-age children, teens and adults. Both are licensed in South Carolina.

    Meet the doctors
  • What do you not claim?

We do not claim chiropractic care replaces your pediatrician, OB or midwife, or that it changes how a child eats, sleeps or grows.

    What we claim
  • What does it cost?

Your plan decides what it pays. If you pay yourself, we give you a written estimate before your first visit.

    How fees work
  • When do we see a physician first?

A fever, a hard fall, trouble breathing, trouble feeding or a child who is hard to wake needs a pediatrician or 911 before us.

    Care by life stage

Come in when it suits your family

Book a visit for your child or yourself, or call the front desk with a question.

  • A sudden severe headache or neck pain, dizziness, trouble speaking or seeing, new weakness or numbness, numbness in the groin or saddle area (between the legs and buttocks), or new bladder or bowel trouble needs emergency care now. Call 911 or go to an emergency room.
