Care by life stage
Chiropractic care for babies
A short, quiet visit for newborns and infants, with a parent holding the baby or close beside.
A doctor checks how a baby turns, reaches and rests, with the baby on a parent's lap or a soft blanket. If the doctor recommends any care, it is light fingertip pressure, much lighter than an adult's adjustment, with no twisting or cracking.

What a visit includes
From hello to a plan
- 01
Step 1: A talk with the parent
Your doctor asks how your baby sleeps, feeds and moves, and what you would like to know.
- 02
Step 2: A look at how your baby moves
Head turning, arms and legs, held in your arms or on a blanket. Your baby stays dressed.
- 03
Step 3: Light touch, explained first
If the doctor recommends care, they show you where and how lightly they will touch. You can say stop at any time.
- 04
Step 4: Ideas for holding and carrying
Plain suggestions for holding, feeding positions and carrying, for the adults doing the lifting.
Good to know
Before you book
How long, and how often
A baby's visit is short, usually 20 to 30 minutes. Your doctor sets a plan after the exam, and the plan may be to do nothing more than watch.
What we do not claim
That care helps a baby feed, sleep or settle better
That chiropractic care replaces your baby's pediatrician
A number of visits or a result, because results vary
When to see a physician first
Call your pediatrician or 911 first for a fever, trouble feeding or breathing, a baby who is hard to wake, or after a fall. A baby whose head or neck seems hurt needs a physician before any visit with us.
How it is paid
Your plan decides what it pays, and coverage for babies' visits differs from plan to plan. Our front desk checks your benefits before the first visit and calls you. If you pay yourself, we give you a written estimate in advance.

Questions
Questions about this care
Who holds my baby?
You do, or you and the doctor together. A parent stays for the whole visit.
Is chiropractic care safe for a baby?
Every kind of care has risks. Serious risks are rare, and your doctor explains them and your choices before any care. A baby with any warning sign goes to a physician first.
Do we still see our pediatrician?
Yes. Keep every checkup. With your written permission, we send your pediatrician a summary of what we did.
