Questions
Questions parents ask before they book
Plain answers, in the order parents usually ask them.
What happens at our first visit?
You and your child, or you if the visit is yours, talk with the doctor first. The doctor then does an exam suited to the age, explains what was found and what the options are, and you decide what happens next. Care starts that day only if you agree. Plan on 30 to 45 minutes for a child and 45 to 60 for an adult.
Is chiropractic care safe?
Every kind of care has risks. Serious risks from chiropractic care are rare, and your doctor explains them, and your choices, before any care begins. A child or an adult with a warning sign, such as a fever, a hard fall or sudden severe pain, goes to a physician first.
Will it hurt?
Care for children uses light contact, and your doctor tells you what comes next before it happens. Some people, children included, feel sore afterward. Your doctor adjusts the care to you or your child and stops if anyone is uncomfortable.
How many visits will we need?
Your doctor sets a plan after the exam and goes over it with you at each visit. We do not promise a number of visits, because it depends on the exam, your goals and how your child or you respond.
Do you take my insurance?
We bill most PPO plans and some employer plans, and what a plan pays differs from plan to plan. Our front desk checks your benefits before the first visit and calls you with what they find. The details are on the How fees work page.
What if we do not use insurance?
If you pay yourself, your doctor tells you the fee for each part of the visit before it happens. You have the right to a Good Faith Estimate, and we give you a written one in advance. Ask us.
Do we need x-rays?
Usually not. Your doctor takes x-rays only when they are medically necessary, and explains why before asking. Most children's first visits need none.
Can I bring my child, or come while pregnant?
Yes to both. A parent or guardian comes to every visit for a child, and expecting parents are welcome. Each life stage has its own page that says what a visit includes and what we do not claim, and the What we claim page lists it all in one place.
What if we have already seen another provider?
That is common. Keep your child's pediatrician, or your own OB, midwife or physician, in the picture. With your written permission we can send them a summary of what we did, and we are glad to read what they send us.
What is your cancellation policy?
Please call us as early as you can if you need to change a visit. Ask the front desk about our cancellation policy.
Still have a question?
Call the front desk, or send a message. We reply during office hours.
